I want to buy a vinyl sign cutter and some supplies.

Mostly I want to do 'home interior' type things like put some words on my walls, etc.

But I also see that I have the need for at least 3 banners in the near future. So want something that will do that as well. I'd like to have something that could grow a little as I might see a need.

I don't have a HUGE budget, but want more than a very basic 'crafter' type cutter. I also want to have a small stock of vinyls that could be used in or out -- (if there is a dual purpose type).

I know I need the 'tape'(what size?) and ... ??? what else? Software? Again something fairly basic would work.

What would YOU shop for with a $1500 - $2000 budget? (for everything)

What brands, where you would buy it, best pricing, etc.

PLEASE get me started! I'm so confused as I shop and read information, etc. I really want to do this SOONER rather than later.

Somewhere that takes PAY PAL would be preferred!

I just made my second cutter/software purchase. after 4-5 years I decided it was time. My first purchase was a Lynx s-60 w/ signpal apprentice software(a great first cutter package). I paid in the neighborhood of 2,300.00 I guess it was. It sounds like it would easily handle your tasks and alot more. I am looking at starting my own business primarily focusing on pre-permitting, permit secural, and site due diligence. I have almost ten years in the sign business - program management, sales, installation, design, permitting, variances, and surveys. I have worked with national accounts, developers, and architects nationwide. I know there is a need for this type of service but not quite sure how it would be received in the sign industry. The majority of sign companies that I am aware of complete their own in-house pre-permitting. However over the years I have a accumulated a nice database and great contacts and I know that my knowledge and expertise is marketable. I would like to hear comments from others in the sign industry - pros and cons. Would you use a service such as this? Have you utilized this type of service in the past? If not, why not? Any insight or comments that you can provide would be wonderful.
