What Software to run Master XY-300P?

I am new to the forum. Thank you, in advance, to anyone who can provide some information.

I was recently given a Master XY-300P vinyl cutter by a mechanic friend of mine who builds race cars. A graphics guy who worked out of his shop left it there when he moved his business out. Apparently it was a back up machine to a more expensive cutter that he had. My mechanic friend did not know how to use the cutter or what software to use with it. He gave it to me because I told him it looked like the HP plotter that I use in my business. I work with Autocad and other design software, so I am assuming that it is going to be very similar to how a roll feed plotter works with Autocad.

I would like to figure out how to use this machine just to make some vinyl graphics for myself, friends, family and my engineering business.

Could someone provide some guidance on:

1. What is the best software to run the cutter? I have googled the model number and came up with Flexi, SignTools, etc., but what is a good one to use? Where can I purchase? Is there a freeware?

2. Where can I purchase materials (vinyl, cutting blades, etc.)

3. Is there a user's manual available online?

4. What maintenance is required? Would a maintenance contract be a good investment? (I have a maintenance contract on my plotter and it has been a good investment)

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Well, you have asked for quite a bit of information all in one shot so you may or may not get some satisfactory answers you are looking for. I can already see the flamers coming so be warned.

The short answers...

1. For what you are wanting to do, I would stick with some low budget software and stay away from Flexi, SignLAb, Omega etc. These programs cost thousands and are are designed for professional sign / graphics companies. Try looking for cutting plugins for whatever graphics software you use.

2. Materials can easily be purchased from local suppliers or online. Try this link for a list of sign shop resources. []

3. User Manuals usually come with software / equipment purchase. They can rarely be found online.

5. A maintenance contract is just like insurance. No body likes paying the premium but sure are grateful when something goes boing. I have contract on all of my equipment.

Good luck

Thank you for the information that you have provided, and the warning. Maybe it was much to ask in one shot, but I was just looking to get pointed in the right direction. I just put all my questions in one post to see what responses I might get back. My apologies to the forum if the posts should be more specific.

I have Autocadd, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator and 3D Studio Viz that I use to create drawings and renderings for the engineering that I do. I will see what cutter plug-ins I can find for those programs.

Thanks for the URL. I will check out your web site.

I will play around with the cutter sans manual to try to figure out the functions.

Thanks again for the information.

Click on the link below to check out an article specifically on Bridge Software:

Those are the modules that will link Corel to your printer.
Hope this helps,

Good luck in your new adventure. There are several Bridge (or plugin) packages available for both Corel and Illustrator so you should be right on track. You can also try this link []

The software works directly with Corel and they also offer a free 30 day trial... can't beat that.

Also, I use Lightave 9 to do my renderings (and also animations). How do you like 3D Studio Viz?

Please feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you need any additional help.

I used flexi Pro when I had a Master (good luck w/that plotter). You can buy your vinyl from Beacon Graphics. As for maintenance, keep a dust cover over it when not in use and keep nice sharp blades (Cleancut blades are AWESOME). Just my $.02

Watch-out for which version of the programs you pickup as most of them will not have a driver listed for the Master Machine you have.

You will need the driver that says Master Desay XY-3ooP or the Desay Master XY-300P.

I have had several of the Master machines because they make great backup machines at an affordable price.

I have the Singo Lite Program with Dongle and all the instructions for that cutter.

Email me at and I'll help you rather than bash you...LOL
