When was the last time you said you were having fun in your work or business? Is it fun doing what you're doing? Do you look forward to going to work in the morning? Perhaps its time to get the fun back, or if you've never had fun, to begin having some today.
Harvey Mackay once said, "If you love what you're doing, you'll never have to work another day in your life." Work can be enjoyable. Sometimes it is simply a matter of changing your attitude toward it or could be changing what you're doing altogether.

There is a direct correlation between the amount of enjoyment you get out of your work and the amount of success your work brings. Customers can sense your love for work. They appreciate your enthusiasm for your work and will reward you with repeat business. The impact your enjoyment has on your productivity is evident to those around you and can inspire those on your team.

If you find that the fun is gone, or was never really there, it might be time to consider doing something that tickles your fancy. In other words, finding a new job, a new career or starting a business in a different industry. You never know, the change might not only be fun, but could be more profitable than your current occupation.
Beware the naysayers! If you're going to make a change, tell only those you trust and who will tell it to you straight. They are your supporters, the ones who will say, "Or is it?" when others say this is not the economic environment to be jumping ship.

If you believe that your current situation started out fun, but then lost its flare, take steps to gain back the thrill. Look above and below the current of standard offerings of your business. Get insanely creative. Have fun with it. Look outside of your segment of the industry for ideas. Look outside of our industry. The next time you're in a bookstore, pick up a sales/marketing magazine for ideas. Read what car dealerships are doing, what banks are doing, and what plumbers are doing to get new work.

Of course, work is a four-letter word and most of us still have to do it, but it doesn't mean that we cannot have a balance of fun and work. If you are the big dog at your company, make a decision to create a family night of bowling for the business or something similar. It doesn't have to be expensive, but it does have to be fun. You'll be surprised at how much can be accomplished with those simple events: teamwork, increased productivity, enhanced creativity, improved mental health, etc.
