"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do."
The economy is good for now. Business is good for most and more and more people are buying now rather than waiting to get the sign or sign services that they need or want. The market is up and most of the investors who were once squeamish about the extreme volatility in the market are accepting positive results---at least for now. It is all about the now and now is the time to work even harder than before.
It is easy for us all to rest on our laurels and ride the current wave of market success. Unfortunately, many of us may see business today as booming and that there is no need to continue to fill the funnel with more prospects. This could be a costly mistake and one that many made prior to the recession of 2008.
"Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching."
--- Satchel Paige
If we remember that recession, and the pain many of us felt then, it should prompt us to push harder to get all the business we can handle and then some. We should push and then push some more. It is a get it while the iron is hot or while the getting is good sort of thing. If we change, update, improve, and revitalize our marketing efforts now, we will have more in our store houses when the depression/recession hits again.
"Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did."
--- Newt Gingrich
In 1973, 1987, and 2008, thousands of businesses closed their doors because they were mostly riding the waves of success instead of generating their own waves. Although many other circumstances may have been involved causing some business to falter, there were many others who failed simply because they were not keeping their eyes on the business and the work of the business.
"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it."
--- Steve Jobs
Begin today to make efforts to fill your funnel for the future. Work harder than ever before, (assuming you still love the work), and create a strategy now to get more customers, to provide more products and services, and to grow your business every day.
One way to grow more and no longer sit on your laurels is to look at today's work as a way to provide security for you, your family, and your employees in the future. Enjoy the ride of today's economy, but still keep the gristle in your teeth as you continue to plow into your work and gain greater traction for tomorrow.
"Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work."
