Are You Getting the Most Bang for Your Buck?

Multiple message displays increase your ad space and captivate

By Ryan Lester

There are a seemingly infinite number of options when it comes to choosing a graphic display product. Construction is a factor as one can choose from plastic, wood, and aluminum. Another factor is the lighting on the display. They can be backlit, edgelit or nonlit. A factor that can really separate a display the most, however, is whether or not the display has motion.

  • Static displays, such as light boxes and poster frames, while effective, do not offer the same dramatic impact of a motion display. Motion displays attract and captivate viewers, increasing the selling power of the display. Two of the most dramatic motion display types are prismatic displays and scrolling displays.

    Prismatic Displays
Prismatic displays have triangular prisms, which contain an image on each side, thus allowing for three separate images. The prisms rotate simultaneously providing a dramatic "cascading wave" message transition, which captures and holds viewers' interest. Prisms can be oriented to rotate either vertically or horizontally.

In today's fast-paced retail and display environment, display space, especially "high-traffic" display space, is at a premium. Prismatic displays offer the ideal solution for retailers, brand marketers, and display professionals alike; they display three messages in the display space ordinarily taken by one, and its eye- catching graphic transition draws customers' attention. Prismatic displays can be both backlit and nonlit and come in a variety of sizes.

They can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications, and the display time for each message can be adjusted to suit particular needs. Graphics can be easily changed as they are cut into strips, and slide in and out the prism assemblies.

Prismatic displays are an outstanding and effective multi-image display for department stores, specialty chains, banks, airport terminals, stadiums and tradeshow exhibits.

    Scrolling Displays
Scrolling displays allow for even more images to be shown from one display space. Images are attached together making a string of graphics (typically up to 15 images), and an internal scrolling mechanism smoothly glides from image to image captivating the viewer's attention.

Display time for the images can be adjusted as needed. Innovative graphic systems allow images to be changed individually or in groups, in mere seconds. Graphics may be photographic transparencies, printed film, or printed paper. Scrolling displays are typically backlit, making them an even more dramatic display medium. Units may be oriented to scroll either vertically or horizontally. Indoor and outdoor models are available, in a wide variety of sizes and finishes.

When you're planning your next display project, remember to keep in mind motion displays. Whether prismatic or scrolling displays are used, the effectiveness of the ad space is increased. Not only do they allow for multiple images, but also the motion attracts attention and helps reinforce your message.
