Creative Prototype Packaging on Actual Container Substrates via New Ink Jet Transfer Media
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass Proof It™ brand announces the availability of new PTRANSFER, an ink jet image transfer media that makes it fast and easy to print package prototypes on wide format ink jet printers, then transfer the layout directly to any number of packaging substrates for proofing presentation. The development of PTRANSFER enables designers and printers to eliminate time-consuming steps and increase the productivity of their in-house wide format ink jet printers.
Using a hot-roll laminator, a package design can be printed on PTRANSFER, and then transferred to standard offset stocks or printable box materials. The exclusive microns-thin, Fluorex® transfer laminate layer built into PTRANSFER is combined with an imaging layer that receives the ink jet inks. The inks are trapped beneath the flexible protective barrier to guard against physical contact and abrasion. It also protects against stain and chemical exposure.
“The introduction of Fluorex into Proof It ink jet proofing media greatly increases the versatility of output,” said Ed McCarron, product manager at Rexam Image Products.
“At the same time, profit and productivity are increased by cutting laminating and mounting steps.”
PTRANSFER is compatible with dye inks on HP DesignJets® 2000/3000/5000 series, Encad NovaJet® series and ColorSpan® printers.

The Proof It product line features sheeted and roll substrates that are universally compatible with Epson, Hewlett Packard, Encad, Canon, and Colorspan ink jet printers. The coatings are intended to enhance design proofing applications and maximize high-end work flow, particularly when using color management.
