NUR Macroprinters Announces New 8-Color Version Of NUR Fresco™ Digital Production Press At ISA International Sign Expo 2002

New NUR Fresco™ HiQ 8C models deliver both photorealistic image quality and fast printing speeds result is “no compromise” high image quality and high productivity

Orlando, FL; April 4, 2002 Wide-format print service providers no longer need to choose between high productivity and high image quality when printing applications like point-of-purchase materials, transit ads and similar high quality display materials that are intended for up-close viewing.

Because they provide both photorealistic image quality at apparent resolutions of up to 720 dpi and high levels of productivity with print speeds of up to 860 sq. ft. per hour, the new NUR Fresco HiQ 8C photorealistic production presses announced today by NUR Macroprinters Ltd. at the ISA International Sign Expo 2002 in Orlando, will virtually eliminate this compromise.

A NUR Fresco HiQ 8C 3200 is running high quality samples at the NUR America booth #1502 on the show floor. In addition, the company is featuring demonstrations of the 4-color NUR Fresco HiQ 3200, the NUR Salsa Ultima™ 3200 photorealistic printer, and the new NUR FabriGraph™ DS1500 for production-oriented textile printing applications in its first public showing in the U.S.

NUR Macroprinters' customers have achieved significant success with both the NUR Fresco and the NUR Salsa Ultima series printers; there are over 130 NUR Fresco and over 450 NUR Salsa series installations worldwide. The NUR FabriGraph series, which was shipped to customers in late 2001, is also making its mark with companies that specialize in textile signage and banner printing.

“The new 8-color printing capabilities makes the NUR Fresco, our popular, production oriented workhorse machine, even more versatile. It can now produce both the highest quality display graphics in addition to the fast turnaround, digital production jobs such as fleet graphics, banners, mesh applications, etc. for which the NUR Fresco has always been the best in its class,” says Erez Shachar, NUR Macroprinters president and CEO. “It's another example of our commitment to provide digital solutions for the broadest range of customers and their wide-format printing applications.”

The NUR Fresco HiQ 8C presses combine the photorealistic quality attributes of NUR Macroprinters' cost-effective NUR Salsa Ultima machines with the high speed and productivity of the NUR Fresco production presses. This winning combination delivers improved image smoothness, improved light to mid-tone transitions, and eliminates image granularity resulting in photorealistic image quality. The machines can operate at production speeds in both 8-color photorealistic and 4-color printing modes and operators can easily switch from one mode to another depending on the production parameters of each individual job.

What's new in the NUR Fresco HiQ 8C
The NUR Fresco HiQ 8C series is based on the current NUR Fresco HiQ which has been modified to print using eight colors (C, M, Y, K and light cyan, light magenta, light yellow and light black) instead of the standard 4-color inkset. As with the original machine, there are two models available: the NUR Fresco HiQ 8C 3200 that prints in widths up to 10.5 feet and the 1800 capable of print widths to 6 feet.

Modifications to the machine include changes to the ink system to accommodate eight colors and a new switch box that enables fast and easy switching between the 4-color and 8-color printing modes. The service cabinet at the base of the machines now contains four additional main ink tanks to accommodate the light CMYK inks. NUR's PrintTop control software, running on new and faster and more competent computers, has also been modified to support 8-color printing and provides a new, user-friendly calibration wizard.

In keeping with NUR's policy to ensure upgrade paths for current customers, an 8-color upgrade kit will be available for NUR Fresco 4-color models currently in the field.

Comments Shachar, “The upgrade kit that adds the new 8-color capabilities to existing NUR Fresco printers in the field is yet another demonstration of our on-going commitment to ensure our customers are always on the forefront of technology and have an assured upgrade path to protect their investment.”

The 8-color version of the NUR Fresco retains the media flexibility of the standard NUR Fresco machines including the integral automatic mesh mechanism in the NUR Fresco HiQ 3200. NUR Fresco can print on a wide variety of standard media including: PVC, banner material, truckside tarpaulin, mesh, SAV, blueback paper, canvas, cotton and more in roll-to-roll or roll-to-sheet modes.

High quality, flexibility and productivity
In addition to the increased resolution, the use of the light CMYK ink colors contributes further to the photorealistic appearance of prints by assuring smooth highlights to mid-tones transitions as well as elimination of image granularity.

The new machines retain the flexibility to operate in both 8-color mode and 4-color mode. Switching between each mode is both easy and straightforward. The 4-color printing mode ensures more economical printing when printing applications that do not require a photorealistic appearance.

The NUR Fresco HiQ 8C retains the cascading printhead layout common to all printers in the NUR Fresco series. This assures the best combination of speed and quality providing production speeds in both photorealistic 8-color printing mode and standard 4-color printing mode.
