Océ Introduces Faster Océ Arizona 30-s Wide-Format Outdoor Durable Ink Jet Printer

Two-Thirds Increase in Production Print Speed of the Original Océ Arizona 30 at the Same Price; New Out-of-the-Box Design Speeds Installation

CHICAGO, Oct. 10, 2002 - Océ today introduced the Océ Arizona 30-s, the next generation of the company's affordable wide-format, outdoor durable ink jet printer. The Océ Arizona 30-s offers a two-thirds increase in the production print speed to 30 square feet per hour in four-pass mode. In addition, the printer is now shipped pre-assembled for quick and worry-free installation.

With a print speed of nearly 30 square feet per hour in four-pass mode and a list price of $28,500 in the U.S., the Océ Arizona 30-s anchors the most affordable end of the Océ Arizona product line. A six-color solvent-based sign printer, the Océ Arizona 30-s is an ideal device for small- and medium-size sign establishments that do not require high-volume production. Larger shops can benefit as well, by using the Océ Arizona 30-s for one-offs, short runs or approval prints. The Océ Arizona 30-s prints on a variety of outdoor media, including vinyl, banner material, poster paper and the range of 3M media available for the Océ Arizona 90 and Océ Arizona 180.

Arizona 30-s Features
The Océ Arizona 30-s delivers better quality images at higher print speeds with a true production print speed of nearly 30 square feet per hour in four-pass mode and nearly 22 square feet per hour in six-pass mode. (The original Océ Arizona 30 printed at speeds of 18 square feet per hour in four-pass mode and achieved 30 square feet per hour in two-pass mode. A six-pass mode was not available.)

To reduce installation time, the Océ Arizona 30-s is now shipped pre-assembled. Installation of the Océ Arizona 30-s, performed by an Océ technician, has been streamlined. The technician uncrates the unit, attaches the dryer with two simple brackets, installs the inks and media, connects to the processing workstation, and turns the power on to the printer. From crate to print, customers can be producing revenue-generating output in less than 30 minutes. The new ergonomic profile of the Océ Arizona 30-s is more operator-friendly, and its attractive color scheme blends well into most office or shop environments.

The Océ Arizona 30-s uses solvent-based 3MTM ScotchcalTM Piezo Ink Jet Inks Series 6000 which, when used with select 3M vinyl films, are backed by the 3MTM Matched Component SystemTM warranty for up to three years outdoors without overlaminate, or up to five years with overlaminate. Inks are supplied in 400-ml bottles, with 180-ml main ink tanks (115-ml operating capacity) that can be refilled on the fly, i.e., without interrupting printing. A built-in dryer enables the Océ Arizona 30-s to produce prints that are ready for finishing or installation. Daily operator maintenance consumes less than 10 minutes.

A wide variety of media up to 64 inches wide can be used in the Océ Arizona 30-s, and it offers a generous print width of 62.28 inches. Its 720 dpi apparent resolution (360 dpi addressable) is standard in all print modes. Print resolution is not sacrificed for speed. The six color ink set (black, cyan, light cyan, magenta, light magenta, and yellow) delivers smooth color gradations, making for soft and pleasing skin tones.

The Océ Arizona 30-s offers low cost operation, with less than 50 cents per square foot (assuming 80% coverage) for ink. Uncoated vinyl can be purchased for as little as 20 cents a square foot, making the final output cost less than 70 cents per square foot.

Pricing and Availability
The Océ Arizona 30-s will be available for commercial shipments in the fourth quarter of 2002. It is marketed in the U.S. by the Océ Display Graphics Systems group of Océ-USA, Inc.
