Gerber Expands Wide Format Imaging Family With Gerber Jetster™ Inkjet Printer

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Gerber Scientific Products today unveiled the most recent addition to its growing portfolio of world-class imaging systems at the United States Sign Council (USSC) show, Atlantic City Convention Center.

Named the Gerber Jetster, the company's new wide format piezoelectric drop-on-demand inkjet printer is designed to provide industry professionals with an extensive range of application opportunities. Printing directly onto a variety of specially treated vinyls and other materials, all of which have been tested and certified by Gerber for use with the Jetster, it accommodates media widths of up to 62 inches and offers resolutions ranging from 180 dpi to 1440 dpi with exceptional image quality. Additionally, its eco-solvent inks are practically odor-free and complement Gerber's existing family of environmentally friendly, user-safe imaging technologies.

The Jetster uses six colors to create "an exceptionally broad spectrum of colors and achieve excellent spot simulation," according to Scott Anthony, senior product manager, Gerber Scientific Products, who further noted dual integrated dryers fuse the inks onto Jetster media for instant UV, chemical and abrasion resistance without lamination for most applications.

Equally important benefits cited by Anthony include incredibly quick setup time, ease of use, and minimal maintenance.

"Unpacking, to setup, to actual production takes less than two hours," he asserted. "And the machine is extremely user-friendly -- almost as simple as a desktop printer. Plus, cleaning is accomplished at the push of a button. All in all, it just doesn't get any easier."

These attributes, when combined with the system's affordable price point and low ink consumption, position it very attractively within the marketplace, indicated Anthony.

"We believe Jetster, with its unique features and media sets, offers a highly economical option for all graphics professionals -- especially sign making professionals ¡V who are interested in investing in durable, wide format piezo inkjet technology," he said. "And, it adds a further dimension to Gerber's total graphic solutions approach."
