Distributors Introduce All New Solvent Ink Jets
Las Vegas, NV. March 2, 2003 Two major distributors of inkjet printers
and supplies Splash of Color and All Graphics Supplies today unveiled an
entirely new lineup of solvent-ink-based wide-format inkjets. Based on the
Roland Pro II Series, the SolventJET II Series offers industry-leading speed
and durability.
Able to print up 300 sqft/hr at 450 dpi, SolventJET II models include 54-
and 74-inch printers, and 54-inch printer/cutters. They can produce 30-sqft
durable outdoor banners in about six minutes. Designers can also print up to
1440x1440 dpi for photorealistic clarity. This unique combination of speed
and quality is due to more than 100 technical enhancements, including
multiple high-speed CPUs, a built-in multitasking operating system and
servo-controlled media movement.
The SolventJET II uses Lyson Pentachrome solvent ink (CMYK plus Red + Blue)
to print graphics that last up to five years outdoors without lamination.
Compared to CMYK plus LcLm, Pentachrome inks yield a 27 percent wider color
gamut and match 50 percent more spot colors than with CMYK. It is ideal for
signmakers who need to simulate Coca Cola red or reflex blue. The SolventJET
II also accepts CMYK plus LcLm, which offers three years of outdoor
durability and better simulates flesh tones and subtle shading.
All SolventJET II inks are environmentally safe and represent no harm if
inhaled. Without any need for expensive air extraction equipment, they
enable signmakers to print directly onto a wide range of uncoated, low-cost
sign-making materials such as self-adhesive vinyl, scrim banner, wet
strength paper and backlit film. The inks come in easy-to-use 310ml
refillable ink cartriges and have an average printing cost of 25 cents per
square foot.
