ISA Participates In 2003 APA Show
Alexandria, VA (May 20, 2003) The International Sign Association (ISA) participated as an exhibitor at the American Planning Association’s (APA) National Planning Conference in Denver, Colo., March 29 through April 2 to showcase the tools available to planners through ISA.
“We went to Denver to talk to the planners who are trying to develop sign code policy to let them know we are here to help,” said ISA Executive Vice President John Johnson. “We believe that many city planners aren’t aware that ISA has the resources to help them understand, evaluate, and implement policies related to on-premise signage.”
Johnson reported that ISA’s message was well received by the APA conference attendees. “We spoke to hundreds of attendees who were glad to learn about ISA and the resources we have available.”
At the conference, ISA highlighted a new Web site for planners, www.PlannersResource.org. The site provides information on the economic and non-economic impact of signage on businesses and includes quick links to other valuable materials.
ISA staff distributed copies of Signline at the conference. “Signline gives you important legal and planning information on signage,” said Johnson. “The publication was developed for sign users, sign companies, planners, building and zoning officials, and other government groups connected with the sign industry.”
Almost 5,000 urban, rural and regional planners, city officials, and community leaders attended the conference, which was held at the Colorado Convention Center.
ISA is an 2,200 member organization composed of manufacturers, users, and suppliers of on-premise signs and sign products produced by more than 400,000 employees in all 50 states and 69 countries.
ISA exists to support, promote and improve the $30 billion-a-year sign industry, which sustains the nation’s nearly $3 trillion-a-year retail industry.
