VUTEk® slamdunks the competition in double-sided printing

Large format printer Infinite Graphics Technology of Indianapolis, USA, has used its new UltraVu® 5330 EC to print double-sided banners for the NCAA Basketball Championships.

Robbie Gordon, General Manager, Infinite Graphics comments, 'Prior to installing the UltraVu® 5330 EC, we didn't have the confidence or machine reliability to produce double-sided graphics with our other competitive machines. But with the VUTEk® UltraVu® 5330 EC, we are able to rewind the substrate and get accurate registration for printing on the reverse side. What's more, with VUTEk®'s quality inks, image smudging and scratching weren't an issue.'

Following a late cancellation of one of the NCAA Basketball Tournament event sponsors, using its new VUTEk® capability, Infinite Graphics was asked to print new double-sided banners in only 24 hours. Featuring images of historical events for each of the NCAA's sport categories, the VUTEk® printed ceiling banners that were visible to both live spectators and television audiences worldwide, needed to be extremely high quality items.

The success of the project helped to build Infinite Graphics' reputation for high quality, short turnaround large format promotion.

Printed onto Saturn, a smooth matt presentation vinyl, the 3' x 6' graphics were part of a long term NCAA project continued to grow for Infinite Graphics. Robbie Gordon continues, 'The NCAA project is really important to us and it has been the catalyst for much more work. The UltraVu® 5330 EC is easy to use and perfect for double-sided printing. Our other printers work in a closed environment, which makes print registration very difficult to achieve. But because you can really get inside the VUTEk® printer, accurate rewinding and registration set-up enables consistent high quality of print on both sides of the substrate.'

Infinite Graphics praises highly the VUTEk® UltraVu® 5330 EC following a hugely successful seven months with its five-meter, 330 dpi inkjet printer. On the same day as installing our new printer, we decided to change the inks on our other competitive machines - this went very badly and basically shut them all down. By the end of that day we were pleading with the VUTEk® engineer to enable us to start using the UltraVu 5330 EC straight away so that we didn't lose clients. This we did and we haven't looked back since.
