Gescom S.p.A. of Viterbo, Italy and Stiefel Digitalprint GmbH in Lenting, Germany are the two European beta test customers for the NUR Tempo. Impact Imaging of Kaysville, Utah is the first beta customer in the U.S. All three companies have considerable experience providing wide-format digital printing services using equipment from NUR Macroprinters as well as other suppliers.
The beta testing program for the NUR Tempo is expected to last three months. Commercial shipments of the machine are now planned for September 2003.
"For the past year we have been previewing the NUR Tempo at various events around the world and we have received extremely positive feedback from the industry and potential customers who anxiously await the machine's availability," says David Amir, president and CEO of NUR Macroprinters Ltd. "The beta testing program is proceeding to our satisfaction and giving us confidence that the product will
be released for commercial distribution as currently planned. We believe the NUR Tempo will deliver a wealth of benefits to our customers and will take its place as a major contributor in the NUR portfolio of products."

Gescom's expertise ranges from point-of-sale banners, self-adhesive vinyl signage and vehicle wraps, to mesh wraps for building sites and a growing business in exhibition graphics. Its customers include screen printers and other commercial printing companies in Italy, the U.K., Spain, and France looking for short runs,
fast delivery and high quality production of a wide variety of work.
"The NUR Tempo is a welcome addition to our equipment roster," says Dr. Ettore Segatori, Owner of Gescom S.p.A. "This new and highly versatile machine will help us to attract new business as well as broaden the range of services we offer to our current customers. advantage."
Stiefel Digitalprint GmbH, Lenting, Germany
>From its origins as a publisher of wall maps, Stiefel Verlag GmbH has transformed itself over the past twenty-five years into Europe's major supplier of wall maps, planning calendars and related school supplies. Using the latest computer technology, the company's digital printing division, Stiefel Digitalprint, provides a wide range of services extending beyond its traditional base to indoor and outdoor signage for trade fairs and buildings.
Its equipment roster currently includes
a NUR Fresco 3200 and a recently installed NUR Salsa™ Ultima 5000 and a selection of smaller format digital printers. The new NUR Tempo was just recently installed for beta testing at the company's production facility in Lenting.
"Because we use such a wide variety of sizes and materials in our main map printing
business, we needed a versatile machine that could also provide high quality, especially crisp, readable text," says Heinrich Stiefel, owner of Stiefel Digitalprint GmbH. "The NUR Tempo will meet our quality and versatility requirements while delivering the high level of productivity and throughput we need for our long
print runs."
"Buying another NUR machine was a logical choice," adds Bernhard Stiefel, general
manager of Stiefel Digitalprint. "We already own a diverse portfolio of NUR equipment,
as well as printers from other suppliers. Above all, we have come to value the superb technical support NUR provides and our partner-like relationship with the company."
Impact Imaging, Kaysville, Utah, USA Impact Imaging, the first beta test site for the NUR Tempo in the U.S., specializes in "grand format" printing of billboards, wall murals, scaffold wraps, truckside advertisements, banners, backlit signage and related very large format indoor and outdoor applications. The company handles all prepress, proofing and finishing operations in-house and prides itself on its full service operation and emphasis
on customer service and satisfaction. Its current equipment list includes two NUR Blueboard™ superwide inkjet printing systems as well as multiple smaller format printers. The NUR Tempo was installed at the company's Kaysville, Utah production facility in late May 2003.
Comments Dan Griesemer, Chairman of the Board of Impact Imaging, "We've built our business around fast turnaround and strong customer service using the best people and equipment available on the market to help us deliver what we promise. The NUR Tempo strikes us to be yet another 'best of breed' addition to the company,
and based on our past experience with NUR we know they share our service values."
Adds Kim Griesemer, President and CEO of Impact Imaging, "We decided to beta test the NUR Tempo as the first step in our strategy to expand the range of services we offer. With a sales force strategically located across the U.S., we're looking to develop new business based on printing on a broader range of materials."
About the NUR Tempo flatbed digital inkjet press
The NUR Tempo is a flatbed, digital inkjet press that NUR Macroprinters first unveiled in prototype form in 2002. The machine is designed to print on a wide variety of both rigid and flexible materials including corrugated board, foam-core paperboard, acrylic sheets, PVC, polycarbonate, fluted polypropylene, glass,
wood and standard rolled media. The NUR Tempo was designed in conjunction with input from both screen printers and digital printers as an alternative to screen printing presses for many applications, especially short runs, on-demand. It eliminates the extra steps involved in lamination and cutting/trimming processes
common to other traditional methods of printing graphics on rigid surfaces.
Key features in the new NUR Tempo include:
- UV-curable inks for the flexibility to print on almost any type of substrate
- Large format (10 ˝ ft.x 6 ˝ ft. / 3.2m x 2m) table to accommodate a wide variety
of applications and job formats
- Handles both rigid and rolled substrates with fast and easy changeover between
the two for ultimate flexibility
- Both 4- and 8-color printing modes to deliver the best combination of high
speed and photorealistic image quality with easy changeover between modes
- Fully encapsulated construction to ensure a comfortable working environment
- Optional proprietary feeding and stacking system for increased productivity.
