World's first installation of VUTEk® UltraVu® 150 is 'dream machine' for Nite-Bright

Nite-Bright Sign Co., Inc., of Fort Myers, Florida, has installed the world's first VUTEk® UltraVu® 150, and is reporting excellent results. Specifically installed to gain business in the POP market, Nite-Bright claims that the new VUTEk® 1.5 meter printer is a 'dream machine', providing high quality print and versatility in an industrial strength package.

Bill Mathey, Production Manager, Nite-Bright, comments, 'As 99% of our business is under 60 inches wide, it made no sense for us to purchase a two, three or five meter printer before this time. But, the UltraVu® 150 really is a dream machine for us.

'We knew nothing about the UltraVu® 150 until the VUTEk® salesman showed us some samples - the first time samples had been shown to the public. We were so impressed with the samples, that we knew that this machine would be a great benefit to our company. Our decision was based on its fantastic print quality, excellent speed at high resolution and a price point that was very reasonable for the capabilities of the machine.'

Since installation in May 2003, Nite-Bright has used its six-color VUTEk® UltraVu® 150 to produce a number of jobs including high quality signage for a charity golf tournament, completed in only two days. Signage for this included many 10' x 3' banners, 17" x 11" tee box signs, 4" x 4" sponsor signs and 3" x 4" easel backs. Bill Mathey comments, 'To achieve the same high quality print using our other digital printers, would have meant running the machines for a whole week. And, with the UltraVu® 150, it was so nice to be able to use the same printer to produce the 10' banner and the 17" x 11" sign, ensuring color consistency.'

The UltraVu® 150's high speed printing was very influential in its purchase decision. Since installation this has enabled Nite-Bright to convert its smaller hi-res jobs, previously printed by its other digital printers, to the new UltraVu® 150 for dramatically increased print quality and workflow efficiency.

Capable of printing high-quality output at 430 sq. ft. (40 sq. m.) per hour, the 360 dpi solvent-based UltraVu® 150 printer, turbo-charges commercial imaging shops by printing high quality graphics and signage with outdoor durability up to four times faster than the speed of competitive products and with up to 80% lower ink running costs.

The UltraVu® 150's lower cost of entry allows more imaging service providers to benefit from the increased productivity, reliability and superior image quality of VUTEk® printers. Available in four- and six-color models, the UltraVu® 150 is an industrial-strength digital inkjet printer that produces stunning quality output on hundreds of uncoated materials up to 60 inches (152 cm) wide.

Bill Mathey continues, 'The versatility of the UltraVu® 150 is fantastic. We can print both small and large format graphics with this product and still maintain profitability. What's more, with the UltraVu® 150's six colors, we can produce near 'photo quality' on to a wide variety of substrates. This makes it ideal for POP work, which we think will be a growth area for our business in the future and the main reason for the purchase.'

Nite-Bright's customers are mainly large, nationwide food and beverage retailers, or companies whose products appeal to a mass market and need transport and fleet graphic requirements. According to Bill Mathey, despite each graphic having a life cycle of 5/10 years, some of its regular clients buy dozens of truck and vehicle wraps each year, replacing company or product logos and advertising campaigns.

Nite-Bright Sign Co., Inc., is a family run business, established in 1945 as a screenprinter specializing in traffic sign printing. As the business grew and its printing capability increased, Nite-Bright moved in to fleet graphics and hasn't looked back since. Today, it employs 25 people and is one of the leading fleet graphic specialists in the U.S. with more than 85% of its work printed digitally.
