New Coca-Cola campaign takes VUTEk® graphics to the beach

Studio Alfa, a Brazilian photo compositor, prepress and large format specialist, has recently used its VUTEk® UltraVu® 3360 FC to print graphics for a 13-meter giant Coca-Cola drink can, touring the beaches of Brazil. Printed on self-adhesive vinyl using VUTEk's high quality light resistant inks, the Coca-Cola graphics had to be suitable for outdoor use and withstand extreme heat, sand and sea breezes.

Speaking about the Coca-Cola job, Evando Abreu, a Studio Alfa Partner comments, 'This project has impressed everyone. Because the Coca-Cola corporate red is very exact, we had to match the shade perfectly to pass its stringent corporate identity guidelines. As our VUTEk® UltraVu® 3360 enables us to print extremely high quality graphics, with extremely accurate color reproduction, this was not a problem. In fact, there was not a single problem experienced throughout the job, and we are sure that the success of this will lead to other large scale projects.'

The Coca-Cola job took only five days to complete from design to installation. The graphics were installed onto a wooden base structure, and once completed, transformed the object into a large replica of the world leading soft drinks can. Evando continues, 'I gather that the most difficult part of this job was organizing the transportation of the can from location to location. But we believe the project to be hugely successful for Coca-Cola, with many thousands of people already having viewed, been inside and abseiled down from the can.'

Studio Alfa has also recently printed graphics for the hulls of two catamarans. Currently sailing daily from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Niteroi, Brazil, over a period of three months, the catamarans are seen by approximately 90,000 people each day. Feedback on the project has been so positive, that Studio Alfa has already received and completed another job to print a total of 1400 square meters of graphics for two new passenger boats, each measuring 53m in length.

Evando concludes, 'We are currently in negotiations with local authorities to enable building wraps to be installed in and around the city of Rio de Janeiro. Once we achieve this, we expect orders to grow rapidly for this type of application. We are also looking to expand our services outside Brazil, and have targeted Chile as a future market.'
