Roland Expands SOLJET Pro II EX Series With 64-Inch Printer
Irvine, CA. October 29, 2003 Roland DGA Corporation today added a 64-inch printer to the award-winning SOLJET Pro II EX Series. The SJ-640EX joins the 54-inch SJ-540EX printer, 74-inch SJ-740EX printer and 54-inch SC-540EX printer/cutter.
"At 64 inches wide, the SJ-640 is an outstanding printer for producing everything from banners to vehicle graphics," said Patrick Chen, Roland product manager. "It will make a great addition to the EX Series, which just won a pair of DPI Product of the Year awards."
The SOLJET Pro II EX Series won the DPI Product of the Year awards earlier this month at the SGIA show. The 54-inch SC 540EX won in the poster category, and the 74-inch SJ-740EX earned top honors in the grand format category. Without knowing which company produced which entry, DPI judges selected winners based on color, clarity and production speed.
These heavy-duty inkjets can print up to 300 sqft/hr at 450 dpi for the production of signs, banners, POP displays and vehicle wraps; or they can print up to 1440x1440 dpi with variable droplet technology for photorealistic clarity. They use an integrated media heating system and advanced Eco-SOL INK to print directly onto a wide range of economical media, including both coated and uncoated substrates.
Eco-SOL INK is safe to use and virtually odor free. Without special ventilation or environmental equipment, the new mild solvent ink yields water-, scratch- and UV-resistant graphics. Ink costs are as low as 21 cents per square foot. Average running costs (ink and media combined) are about 65 cents per square foot.

Eco-SOL Media (ESM)
Tested and profiled to perform with the SOLJET EX Series, Roland uncoated Eco-SOL Media includes a variety of competitively priced, adhesive-backed vinyls and other popular substrates. The lineup includes glossy cast vinyl, white reflective vinyl, glossy and matte calendared vinyls, clear and translucent calendared vinyls, view-through vinyl with removable adhesive, flame retardant scrim banner, and blockout scrim banner. Roland will continue to grow this lineup even further with other low-cost, high-performance products. The EX Series also performs well with all Roland SOLJET Certified Media (SCM); and it is compatible with some PCM, PQM and PGM offerings.

Designed exclusively for the Pro II Series of printers and printer/cutters, RCR is loaded with features that make printing faster and easier. RCR includes simultaneous RIP & Print capability, enhanced color management, contour cutting and several unique layout options. In addition to Postscript jobs, you can print directly from TIFF, JPEG, EPS, PS, PDF 1.4 and DCS 2.0 files. RCR gives users tremendous control over color.
