Creavi installs first VUTEk® PressVu® UV 180/600 EC in France

Wambrechies-based large format specialist, Creavi, has installed the first VUTEk® PressVu® UV 180/600 EC, flatbed digital printer in France. Reporting huge success with its new 1.8m machine, Creavi is now printing directly to the final substrate, enabling it to reduce job times significantly, increase productivity and add value for customers.

Jerome Toulemonde, Creavi's Managing Director comments, 'Creavi is a very progressive company, constantly looking for new ways to improve customer service. Because of this, the PressVu® UV has been a clear step forward for us, providing the ability to reduce production times and increase our product range. Specifically, we are now able to print and install billboards quicker than ever before.'

Since installation in September '03, Creavi has used its new PressVu® UV 180/600 EC to print applications including posters, vehicle graphics and retail POS. In addition to this, it has also undertaken a number of other experimental jobs. One such job was the creation of a wall decoration for an exclusive restaurant, printed on wood.

With a total surface area of two sq m, the PressVu® UV was employed to print photographic color images onto ash planks. Utilizing its eight-color capability, the images depicted the history of the restaurant and its building over the last 200 years, while also enhancing the atmosphere.

Jerome continues, 'The restaurant job went very well. We spent some time experimenting with different types of wood to get the desired effect - learning about the capabilities of the machine. The PressVu® UV printed the images perfectly. Using all its eight-colors to achieve pin sharp resolution and stunning color, the PressVu's UV curable inks ensured good adhesion to the wood and long term durability. The restaurant owner was extremely pleased with the finished job.'

An existing VUTEk® customer, Creavi's choice of PressVu® UV 180/600 EC was made with the knowledge of VUTEk's high quality customer service, and experience of its robust and reliable products. According to Jerome, having owned an UltraVu® 3300 FC since early 2002, Creavi spent twelve months developing its digital services, exploring the POS market and realizing the benefits of a flatbed digital printer.

Using its PressVu® UV to produce point-of-sale graphics for many leading French high street stores, Creavi has been able to pass on substantial benefits to customers. Working for French electrical supplier Boulanger and clothes retailers Pecabe and Nohareto, not only has Creavi's new technology enabled customers to improve the quality of their promotions, but also to bring products to market much quicker.

Creavi was established in 1976 specializing in screenprinting. In 1996 it was purchased by Mr.Toulemondee and associates, and developed in to one of France's leading screenprint houses. Today, Creavi employs more than 40 people in three premises. Despite taking its first digital step only 12 months previously, the installation of its second large format digital printer, the PressVu® UV, clearly positions Creavi as one of France's leading large format suppliers.
