Delcam releases Version 3 of ArtCAM Insignia

Delcam has released version 3 of its entry-level CNC routing software ArtCAM Insignia. With many new features for sign design and layout, plus improved visualization and faster more flexible CNC routing strategies, Insignia is set to provide a very powerful solution for many Signmakers.

New distortion tools give extra design options by allowing features to be stretched and twisted to produce shapes and text that look more interesting and appealing to the eye. Companies that include lettering in their designs will also benefit from the new font editor. This allows the editing of existing fonts to create unique font designs. Both the new fonts and any frequently used symbols can be stored in libraries for future use.

Additional text editing tools have also been included that provide even more control over the size, positioning and alignment of individual letters.

Now with Insignia 3 project size no longer needs to be limited by the size of the router table or bed. Larger jobs can be undertaken using the “Automated Panelling”, it instantly splits large jobs into multiple pieces that can be independently routed and then assembled. Insignia 3 also includes automated “Plate layout and engraving” for machining large numbers of standard-sized nameplates, badges or plaques based on imported database files. Standard templates are easily designed with options for sequential numbering, plate spacing and different engraving styles.

To improve the quality of the finished component, Insignia 3 now includes 3D Bridges or Tabs that ramp the tool over the bridge region without causing the router to stop. This minimizes the possibility of damaging the edge surface with dwell marks when profiling around shapes.
