ISA Career Fair To Spark Next Generation Of Sign Professionals
Alexandria, Va. With an eye toward ensuring that the future ranks of sign designers, manufacturers and suppliers are well populated, the International Sign Association (ISA) is presenting its third annual Career Fair at the association’s International Sign Expo, held April 14-17 in Orlando, Fla.
ISA’s Career Fair is a three-hour program that will be held April 15 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Four sign industry professionals representing various sectors of the sign business will speak to 60 students from four trade school centers about career opportunities in the sign business. The students will also be given a tour of the tradeshow exhibit hall and have a chance to talk with sign company representatives.
This year’s speakers are: Patrice Howard, president of the Florida Sign Association, who will speak about architectural signage and graphics; ISA Board members Teresa M. Young, who will talk about the digital and marketing aspects of the sign business; Ken Von Wald, who will give a presentation on sign suppliers and distributors; and Wayne Burton, who will talk about electrical signage.
“The Career Fair is not a place to drop off a resume,” said Patricia Hayden, manager of ISA Education Services. “It’s a way to get young folks interested in the sign business. Most people don’t immediately think of the sign industry as a career choice. This is our chance to get the word out.”
ISA is a 2,200 member organization composed of manufacturers, users, and suppliers of on-premise signs and sign products produced by more than 400,000 employees in all 50 states and 69 foreign countries. ISA exists to support, promote, and improve the $30 billion-a-year sign industry, which sustains the nation’s nearly $3 trillion-a-year retail industry.
