SummaSign Pro SL Introduced - 10-Year Anniversary of SummaSign Marked By Launch of OPOS 2.0-Equipped Pro SL
Seattle, Washington -- Summa Inc. today announced its newest solution for the vinyl-cutting marketplace with the introduction of the SummaSign Pro SL. The SL model designation derives from "Series Limited" to highlight the feature-rich design of the 10-year anniversary models. SummaSign Pro SL plotters cut vinyl graphics and die-cut printed vinyl images with equal prowess, making them ideally-suited to the current and future cutting needs of the sign, digital graphic and screen-printing markets.
OPOS 2.0 Contour Cutting Alignment
The SummaSign Pro SL introduction also coincides with Summa's release of its new OPOS 2.0 technology. OPOS, which stands for Optical Positioning System, was originally introduced in 1995 as an option on first-generation SummaSign cutters. As digitally printed vinyl graphics became easier and more affordable to produce in the late 90s and early part of this decade, OPOS-equipped Summa cutters became the solution of choice for accurate die cutting of short run vinyl graphics.
"The wide format color market has exploded into and penetrated well beyond the traditional sign market. By further refining our OPOS capabilities and making it standard equipment on all SummaSign Pro SL plotters, Summa is uniquely positioned to provide sign makers and commercial printers with the optimal solution to their vinyl cutting needs at every level," states John Lash, Summa president and CEO.
Improved Connectivity and Increased Memory
To increase vinyl cutting productivity, SummaSign Pro SL incorporates many refinements in both its hardware and firmware design. Communication options have been expanded to include Serial, Parallel and USB connectivity. The new cutters also have more on-board memory than earlier models and enhanced firmware programming to improve workflow efficiency.
New Deluxe Stand With Media Basket Included
SummaSign Pro SL cutters now feature Summa's new deluxe stand, which has a newly redesigned media basket that is more efficient than earlier versions. The stands are included at no additional cost on all SummaSign Pro SL cutter models sold in the US.
Drag-Knife and Tangential Models Available
First shipments of the SummaSign Pro SL line began in late February 2004 and include drag-knife version cutters in 30, 40, 53 and 63-inch widths. True Tangential™ version SummaSign Pro SL cutters are available in 30, 40 and 53-inch widths with a 63-inch version expected by the middle of this year.
