TRUMPF to Show New C 250 Plus Slitting Shear at ISA 2004

FARMINGTON, Conn., April 5, 2004 - At the 2004 International Sign Expo,TRUMPF will exhibit their newly introduced slitting shear, the C 250-0 PLUS, designed to facilitate shearing of coil line. As a result of a 500-watt motor and new blade geometry design, the new slitting shear is very fast and powerful and has a working speed of 13 feet per minute.

Able to make both straight and curved cuts, the C 250-0 PLUS is flexible enough to handle a wide range of applications including the cutting of spiral seam ducts, C-U-L profiles and wire ducts. The portable power tool can cut mild steel up to 0.098 inches, high tensile steel to 0.059 inches and aluminum to 0.118 inches. And at only 4.4 pounds, the tool is very lightweight.

Several new features make the slitting shear more efficient and easier to use. One of these features is the integrated chip clipper, which cuts the chip at any point during the cutting operation and can be operated using one hand. The device can be pulled out of the workpiece easily and accurately replaced again thanks to visible position markings on the cutter head.

Another innovation, the uniquely designed blade geometry results in a number of benefits including the consistent creation of chip rolls in a uniform spiral. Spiral rolls allow a clear view of the cutting line and help to reduce the force used by the operator - which is particularly helpful when cutting thick or high-tensile sheets.

Additional features include fast tool change and a long cutting tool life. Using a simple quick release pin, the center cutters can be replaced in less than 15 seconds without additional tools or accessories. In addition, the outer cutters are reversible, which doubles the tool life of one set of cutters.

Burr-free and distortion-free cutting make the slitting shear good for applications in sheet metal processing for the air conditioning industry, coil-applications and others.
