New Gerber P2C ™ Plotters Take Gerber Cutting Technology to Next Level -Faster, More Powerful, More User-Friendly, Cost Effective Plotters
SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. -- Gerber Scientific Products introduces its newest solution in vinyl cutting the Gerber P2C plotters. The P2C plotters were shown at the International Sign Expo, April 15-17, 2004, The Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Fla.
There, visitors to Gerber’s booth 1435 viewed firsthand the latest line of Gerber plotters. Gerber’s new P2C plotters feature three distinct formats to more readily meet the needs of today’s sign professional. The P2C 600 (24”) offers a convenient format, intuitive user interface, great tracking and speed—all at an extremely affordable price. The P2C 1200 (48”) offers a similar format to the P2C 600, but also integrates a state-of-the-art Optical Positioning System (OPOS) for the automatic, precision cutting of pre-printed graphics. The P2C 1600 (63”) is the industry’s largest vinyl cutter, built to meet the demands of wider media and also showcases the OPOS allowing for the cutting of wide-format pre-printed graphics with pinpoint precision.
OPOS alignment is made possible by scanning registration marks on printed images. A sensor, which is mounted on the cutter head, scans each mark. Then, the cutter's own internal programming repositions the plot data to adjust for position and rotation of the graphic to be cut. Additional on-board intelligence compensates for scale variations between printers and the cutter by dynamically rescaling the plot data. The end result is a highly automated and accurate means of contour cutting printed vinyl graphics.
In addition to the reliability, fast setup, higher throughput, and optical tracking capabilities, the P2C plotters offer phenomenal material tracking which minimizes costly errors. Further, the system is designed to work as part of Gerber’s Matched Technology System ™, the
industry’s only proven start-to-finish digital printing solution. It therefore interfaces seamlessly with the existing Gerber Jetster ™ inkjet printer and the GERBER ELAN ™ XL inkjet printer, enabling images to pass quickly and reliably from computer to printer to plotter.
