DPI’s Annual Awards Coincide with SGIA ’04
FAIRFAX,VA—Excellence in the technology used to create wide-format digital graphics and other digitally-imaged items, in digital imaging product development, and in digital imaging output, per se, will be recognized this year by the Digital Printing & Imaging Association at the SGIA ‘04/DPI Conference — Minneapolis.
Sponsored by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association and DPI, the Associations’ annual Convention & Exposition takes place October 6-9 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
Product of the Year Awards
DPI’s Product of the Year Competition honors those digital imaging products identified as having a major, beneficial impact on the industry.
“The digital imaging industry is all about technology,” says Dan Marx, DPI’s Director of Communication & Services Development. “Products used to create large-format digital graphics and other digitally imaged items continue to evolve and are continuously refined, resulting in better, faster, more accurate and reliable output.”
Indeed, the output device category offers attendees a unique opportunity to see a single print from numerous output devices presented side-by-side. Based on output size, entries are judged in six separate categories … each evaluated on such factors as color, detail and tonality.
“New products can solve industry problems, help imagers maximize the power of their businesses, and present opportunities to enter markets not previously available,” Marx adds. “Digital imaging products truly drive the success of the industry they support and are acknowledged and honored through this awards program.”
2004 Vision Award
Honoring excellence in new digital imaging product development, DPI’s future-focused Vision Award is designed to identify and recognize the potential of new products to have a significant and profound effect on the digital imaging industry.
To be considered for DPI’s Vision Award, nominated products must have been installed and tested at Beta sites during the 12 months immediately prior to the SGIA ‘04/DPI Conference-Minneapolis. Further, for award consideration, the product itself must be introduced at SGIA ’04.
Entries are judged on relevance to the digital printing and imaging industry, potential impact on the industry and potential value to technology users. NOTE: Only one Vision Award will be conferred this year.
André Schellenberg Competition
The 11th Annual André Schellenberg Awards Competition and Gallery of Digital Art is the digital imaging industry’s pre-eminent forum for recognizing those companies that have achieved excellence in digital imaging.
“The Competition’s six separate categories allow technology users to submit samples of their products,” Marx explains. “They will be judged against like products of similar output or design. Two awards will be presented within each category and all entries are automatically considered for the Best in Show and Best in Digital Creativity awards.”
One free entry is included with a company’s DPI membership. Entry information, nomination and participation forms are posted on DPI’s web site, DPIA.org. Questions? Please contact Dan Marx at Association headquarters.
