SGIA Establishes Partnership to Promote Awareness of Labor Laws
FAIRFAX, VA -- The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association have signed an agreement to work together to promote greater awareness of and compliance with DOL’s employment laws among industry businesses.
The partnership was established through DOL’s new Partnerships for Compliance Assistance Program and will help SGIA members stay on top of their federal employment law compliance obligations. Together, SGIA and DOL will offer the perfect combination of industry expertise and federal compliance assistance tolls.
“Specialty imaging is an evolving and growing field that impacts nearly every facet of our daily lives and employs hundreds of thousands of individuals across the nation,” said Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao. “This partnership will assist us in delivering valuable information to (the industry’s) workers and businesses, and further our goal to ensure fair, safe and healthy work environments for America’s workforce.”
Specialty Graphic Imaging Association President & CEO Mike Robertson responded: “We are very pleased to partner with the Department of Labor in an effort to provide our members with additional tools to help ensure compliance with federal employment laws. SGIA is eager to offer this vital service to our membership.”
Examples of activities in which SGIA and DOL will collaborate include promoting new compliance assistance tools and disseminating compliance assistance information through Web sites and electronic media, as well as in print and publications.
SGIA and DOL representatives will also participate in conferences, forums, discussion or stakeholder meetings that will help increase SGIA members’ understanding of — and ability to comply with — federal labor laws.
SGIA Is Leading a New Generation of Imaging Professionals—“Specialty imaging” comprises digital imaging, screen printing and the many other imaging technologies SGIA members use, including those they’ll tap in the future. These are the imaging processes and technologies employed to create new products and to enhance existing products including point-of-purchase displays, signs, advertisements, garments, containers, and vehicles.
