The Aftermath of Hurricane Charley on Orlando, Florida
Well since the evening national news appears to think that nothing occurred in the metropolitan area of Orlando (far from it), I took a trip to the east side of town to survey the impact of Hurricane Charley to the signage in the East Orlando area. All of what you’ll see is due east of downtown Orlando on Highway 50. Most of the pictures are within a 10 mile East - West area and remember Charley went South to North through the area. There were several billboard structures that were leveled. Most of them had wooden pole supports, but one I saw had I-beams and was flattened. Unfortunately the pictures that I shot of the other boards didn’t come out. It only goes to show, no matter how structurally sound the signage is, mother nature can be no match with a direct hit.
