SGIA Releases 2005 Guide to Digital Imaging and Digital Print Sales System

FAIRFAX, VA -Two new books - The Digital Print Sales System by Terry Nagi and 2005 Guide to Digital Imaging: A Useful Guide to the Markets Served, Materials Used and Equipment Utilized in the Digital Imaging Industry by DPI staff — were released at the SGIA '04/DPI Conference.

While Nagi's book explains how to transition to effective sales methods for the digital marketplace, the 2005 Guide to Digital Imaging covers everything a digital imaging novice, veteran or client needs to know about this expansive production environment.

"The Guide has multiple purposes," says Dan Marx, DPI's Director of Communication & Services Development. "It's designed to provide those who are new to digital imaging with a layperson's snapshot of the industry, its common terms, and its technologies. The Guide is also useful to those already using the technology, but seeking a deeper understanding of methods, markets, equipment choices, and other information. And, for those seeking to compare or purchase a digital output device, the Guide also serves as a valuable reference."

The 2005 Guide to Digital Imaging covers all that printers need to know to keep — or make —digital imaging a profit center:

  • Pre-press tricks — Efficiencies and file management
  • Color management tips — Get it right the first time
  • The equipment, ink and media — What separates the products and technologies
  • Business and marketing strategies — How to educate clients and potential clients
  • Products & their specs — Wide- and narrow-format equipment on the market today
  • Digital jargon and terminology —know what vendors are talking about!
In the Digital Print Sales System, author Terry Nagi, with 19-plus years as a consultant to large and small printers, brings his experience to specialty imaging sales. Nagi highlights the differences between selling digital printing and selling traditional printing. He pinpoints specific techniques and strategies the industry’s most successful printers use and describes an easy-to-implement system that guarantees a successful transition from selling traditional print.

Another new title from Terry Nagi — Successfully Marketing Your Digital Print Capabilities — will also be released at a later date through SGIA.

The Digital Print Sales System will be available at a discount price to all SGIA members; the Association's Guide to Digital Imaging will be a free membership benefit upon joining or timely renewal. Both books are also available at SGIA.org.

SGIA Is Leading a New Generation of Imaging Professionals—"Specialty imaging" comprises digital imaging, screen printing and the many other imaging technologies SGIA members use, including those they'll tap in the future. These are the imaging processes and technologies employed to create new products and to enhance existing products including point-of-purchase displays, signs, advertisements, garments, containers, and vehicles.
