Graphics of the Americas Breaks Down JDF into Pieces That Are Easy to Understand

Miami Beach, Florida November 30, 2004Graphics of the Americas, the largest annual international graphic communications education and exhibit showplace, today announced the addition of the “JDF in Action” pavilion to their annual Miami conference exhibit hall. The pavilion, a combination of dedicated presentation theater and exhibits, will feature three days of multi-vendor presentations and hands-on demonstrations designed to provide attendees with a clear understanding of the emerging standard. The JDF in Action pavilion will also focus on JDF’s impact on printers, driven by the potential for widespread use when JDF authoring tools gain adoption by customers through popular desktop publishing applications. The pavilion will also focus on the benefits of JDF, what the technology means to printers from a practical, clear, and easy to understand point of view, as well as the potential for profits and savings.

“It is widely believed that JDF is the key to automating the complete end-to-end print workflow, resulting in far faster turnarounds at lower costs, said Harry Waldman, an industry consultant and key presenter at the JDF in Action Pavilion. “ However, printers need to know that, much like the Macintosh, combined with software, encouraged printer’s customers to adapt desktop publishing, JDF is rapidly moving in the same direction. For example, the recently introduced Adobe Acrobat 7.0 enables customers to incorporate JDF and even more significantly, it will not be too long before other desktop publishing tools integrate JDF features as well. ”

Six industry representatives will participate at the JDF in Action pavilion at this year’s Graphics of the Americas including Adobe Systems, Esko-Graphics, Grafitec, HiFlex, Screen USA, and Xerox Corporation. Executives from each participating company will provide both exhibits for one-on-one demonstrations as well as key theater presentations to attendees. Unlike other JDF events, the JDF in Action pavilion at Graphics of the Americas is designed to provide attendees with a far more practical look at the standard, its adoption by a printer’s customers, and the potential to significantly impact printer’s business.

Harry Waldman is an independent consultant whose clients include major corporations like DuPont, software companies like Adobe Systems, industry groups including Printing Industries of America, and printers. In addition to printing and graphic software, he is an expert on the technology of presentations and gives seminars to corporate trainers on using today’s technology. Previously, Mr. Waldman has enjoyed positions in the advertising industry and had his own printing company for twenty years. He is a frequent speaker, author, and regular columnist in Printing Impressions.

“We’re honored that JDF in Action has selected Graphics of the Americas as the venue to make there debut,” said Chris Price, vice president and general manager of Graphics of the Americas. “JDF is quickly being integrated in many native authoring applications used by creative professionals today and we are confident that the pavilion will provide attendees with the practical knowledge on how JDF will affect their business and how they can meet the future needs of their customers, and in the end, increase their profitability.”

The JDF in Action pavilion will be taking place all three days of the Graphics of the Americas education and exhibit showplace, February 4-6, 2005 at the Miami Convention Center, Miami Beach, Florida. The JDF in Action pavilion free to all paid Graphics of the Americas attendees.
