Roland Hi-Fi JET Pro II Adds 2005 DIMA Printer Shootout Awards To Accolades
IRVINE, CA Continuing a history of award-winning achievement, Roland DGA Corporation today announced that its Hi-Fi JET Pro II FJ-540 wide-format inkjet printer won the prestigious DIMA Printer Shootout Award in the 50” 72” aqueous inkjet printer category at last week’s Photo Marketing Association trade show in Orlando, FL.
The FJ-540 created the winning print as part of the new d’Vinci Hi-Fi JET Fine Art Printing System. This high-end wide-format printing solution is comprised of Roland’s 54”-wide Hi-Fi JET Pro II FJ-540, ErgoSoft’s StudioPrint RIP software, and a uniquely formulated 12-color ink set featuring Roland’s CMYKOGLcLm plus four additional dilutions of black. Together, these elements deliver stunning photorealistic prints with an exceptional color gamut, high levels of detail, and greatly expanded gray scale capabilities and tonal gradations.
In addition to winning in the aqueous inkjet printer category, the FJ-540 also took first place honors in the aqueous ink category for printers 20 inches wide or larger. This award was earned by the d’Vinci system, which utilizes eight Roland inks (CMYKOGLcLm) as part of its 12-color ink set.
“We are very pleased that Roland’s FJ-540 is both a DIMA Shootout winner and the printer of choice for the d’Vinci Hi-Fi JET Fine Art Printing System,” said Brian McLeod, vice president of marketing for Roland DGA Corp. “The DIMA Shootout is well-known across the industry for recognizing top-performing technologies, and we are honored to have earned this distinction.”
The 2005 DIMA Shootout competition included more than 122 entries from 37 different companies. To enter the competition, DIMA Shootout participants were required to reproduce a target print from a file provided by PMA. Winning entries were selected by a panel of judges based on the overall quality of the digital print and the accuracy of color as compared to the "target" print.
The 2005 DIMA Shootout awards join an impressive list of industry accolades for Roland’s inkjet line including two previous DIMA Shootout awards and multiple Andre Schellenberg awards.
Roland’s Hi-Fi JET Pro II FJ-540 offers unmatched precision based on the company’s advanced variable droplet inkjet technology. This technology utilizes Piezo print heads and a digital servo motor to produce true 1440 x 1440 dpi resolution. Using micro-precise ink droplets of three different sizes depending on the type of output, the Hi-Fi JET Pro II FJ-540 delivers truly breathtaking output with beautifully smooth and dot-free tones, even at high speeds. Additionally, the FJ-540 achieves at 1080 x 1080 bi-directional what other solutions require 1440 x 1440 unidirectional to produce a capability that can cut production time by more than 50 percent.
