Cooley And Kubin-nicholson Support First Hyundai Outdoor Campaign
Pawtucket, RI - When Hyundai Motors launched theeir first multi-million dollar
outdoor advertising campaign in 2005, their plan called for over 250
digitally printed outdoor pieces, including billboards, various mesh
wallscapes and 2-20' x 200' vinyl wraps, a tall order indeed.
The challenge to create all of the printed pieces was offered to
Kubin-Nicholson, one of the largest litho/outdoor and digital printers in
the nation. The Richards Group of Dallas, TX, the advertising agency for
the project chose Kubin-Nicholson to do the printing for the campaign.
Michael Hatley, Director of Print Services for The Richards Group said,
“Because of the quick turnaround, size and scope of this project, we
initially expected it would require multiple printers. With 18 major
markets and almost 300 total faces, coordinating the job between multiple
vendors could have been a logistical nightmare.
Kubin Nicholson had the size to handle the whole project. Their pricing
was competitive and the recent addition of their Dallas facility allowed us
to have more eyes on the initial color OK's than we ever could have had
everything been done out of town. Our history with Kubin Nicholson gave us
the confidence to trust them with this job”.
For the right fabrics for the job, Kubin-Nicholson chose Cooley COOLFLEX®
digital printing substrates. COOLFLEX® 12 ounce billboard substrates were
used for all of the billboards and the vinyl wraps, and COOLMESH® 8 ounce
outdoor printing mesh was used for wallscapes. Kubin-Nicholson used over
210,000 square feet of COOLFLEX substrate and 15,000 square feet of
COOLMESH for the entire project.
City regulations or zoning, the size of the piece being printed and the
type of structure usually determine project substrates. Very large pieces
are usually required on the lighter mesh material based on the sheer
weight. Cooley Digital Products manufacturers a wide variety of versatile
products, which meet the structural and weight requirements needed to meet
the demands of the outdoor advertising market. Cooley products also meet
regulatory requirements throughout the US, such as MEA and California State
Fire Marshall. Ed Silva, Business Manager for Cooley Digital Products had
this to say, “Cooley and Kubin-Nicholson have a long-standing relationship.
We appreciate their confidence in our product for a job as critical as
this. Cooley’s track record for offering multiple application media options
that provide the highest level of image reproduction consistency provided
Kubin-Nicholson with the confidence they needed for producing photo
realistic graphics, regardless of the application or installation method.”
Meetings at Kubin-Nicholson to discuss the project parameter began on
February of 2005. Hyundai’s approval of the artwork from The Richards Group
took place in mid April at both of Kubin-Nicholson’s facilities. “The
campaign was printed at both of our digital facilities, Milwaukee and
Dallas, for added convenience, efficiencies of time and freight expenditure
savings for our client. With the same equipment and stocks in both plants,
Kubin-Nicholson ensured our clients color and quality consistency. Our
clients were pleased that we could offer them these great benefits and
really appreciated the efficiencies it provided them.” Says Dave Norris,
Sales Representative for Kubin-Nicholson in Dallas.
With 260 hours of press time and 150 hours of finishing behind them
Kubin-Nicholson completed the job a week early.
