Truck and Trailer Graphics Highlight Avery Graphics on Cable TV

Outdoor Living Show, Adventure Highway with Tom Holm, Gets the Avery Graphics Treatment

PAINESVILLE, Ohio Whatever punishment Adventure Highway television star and action sports enthusiast, Tom Holm, can dish out, Avery Graphics is up for the challenge. From the grueling heat and sand of the Baja 1000, to the salt and sun of the U.S. Open Surfing Championships, Avery Graphics is on the road with the Adventure Highway crew, wrapping both the show’s flagship vehicles, a Chevy Silverado 3500 Crew Cab Dually, and their custom Weekend Warrior, Toy Hauler Trailer.

MPI 1007 EZ Cast White Vinyl and DOL 1000 Gloss Overlaminate from Avery Graphics was used for the custom wrap. Holm and his graphics provider and installer, Troy Downey, at APE Wraps, selected the material. Downey uses Avery Graphic products because of their superior durability and ease of application. The installation took place just before the start of production for the new fall season, at Downey’s installation facility in Coronado, California.

“This is the most amazing wrap job we’ve ever been involved with,” says Holm. “As soon as we pulled out of the garage people were asking me about my spectacular wrap. I said it was done by Avery Graphics and APE Wraps.”

The installation was videotaped to be featured in an episode of the Adventure Highway with Tom Holm television series, which is broadcast each Sunday into 60 million homes on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN). “The video crew had us doing a lot of starting and stopping and doing over, so they could get the right shot,” says Downey. “The super repositioning ability of the Avery material made retakes a snap.” The installation on the two vehicles took place over three days.

Viewers of the Adventure Highway TV series will get a first-hand look at the vinyl wrap process. “The act of taking a 17 foot piece of material and laying in on a vehicle is pretty amazing,” recounts Downey. “You realize that it really is a giant sticker going on that trailer and let me tell you, that’s what we call eye candy, because it’s sweet to watch.”

Holm is thrilled with the graphics design, which includes a series of pictures of various action sports events covered on the show. “It really captures the vision and spirit of our TV series and what we do on Adventure Highway,” says Holm. One of the great features of the design is that new photos can be retrofitted using Avery Graphics vinyl for replacing the dated photos. A few new panels will update the entire wrap. This makes it super easy for Holm to do the installation himself.

Holm, while in college, started a business call “Truck Ads” selling and installing vinyl graphic advertising on delivery trucks. He has personally wrapped more than 200 trucks and busses with early technology vinyl.

“Today’s materials are so amazing,” say Holm, who also attributes much of the success of his wrap to the skills of the APE Wraps team. “Those guys are just so advanced. The finished product looks like it was painted, no seams. It is flawless.” Downey attributes the perfect results to the repositionability of the Avery Graphic product and its ability to follow a contour.

Adventure Highway with Tom Holm appears on OLN each Sunday at 2:30 pm (EST). OLN is the broadcast leader in adventure- and adrenaline-charged programming. The broadcast schedule for Adventure Highway is available on www.adventurehighway.com.
