ISA Is Bringing Occupational Training Door-to-door Across The Country

Alexandria, VA Sign company owners across the country are constantly looking for ways to reduce costs, reduce insurance claims, and increase employee productivity. Increasingly, employee training is becoming the means to sustain a competitive advantage, increase efficiencies, and improve business results. However, finding the resources to send employees to training can be challenging.

Not anymore.

The International Sign Association (ISA) has created a traveling education program specific to the sign industry. The intent of the program is to bring training directly where it is needed—in the regions where the technicians work.

“ISA is excited by the interest generated for this training at the grassroots level,” said Patricia Hayden, ISA’s Education and Professional Development Director. “We know that everyone does not attend the Sign Expo or a regional show, so this is a great way for ISA and its regional partners to collaborate and deliver training that enhances the skills of sign industry workers.”

One of these programs, the Boom Truck and Crane Operator Training, is the first-ever sign-related program on crane maintenance and safety techniques designed specifically for boom truck operators. The next Boom Truck and Crane Operator Training is scheduled to be held at the facilities of Tubelite, Inc., October 21-22 in Memphis, Tenn. Comprised into online and hands-on components, this training provides employees with the knowledge to:

  • Perform important pre-operative inspections
  • Conduct site inspections properly
  • Perform communication techniques required by operators (signaling)
  • Examine and interpret load charts and range diagrams
  • Perform proper safe rigging procedures
  • Demonstrate safe operating techniques (usable for all booms and cranes)
  • Understand and apply OSHA regulations
To schedule an “On-the-Road” training in your area, please contact Patricia Hayden at patricia.hayden@signs.org.

ISA is a 1,900 member organization composed of manufacturers, users, and suppliers of on-premise signs and sign products produced by more than 400,000 employees in all 50 states and 69 foreign countries. ISA exists to support, promote, and improve the $30 billion-a-year sign industry, which sustains the nation’s nearly $3 trillion-a-year retail industry.
