ISA Applauds President Bush’s Efforts to Celebrate Small Business - Bush Proclaims April 9-15 ‘Small Business Week’
Alexandria, VA The International Sign Association (ISA) welcomed a formal proclamation last week by President Bush to name April 9-15 “Small Business Week.”
In a statement released by the White House, Bush calls on the public to “celebrate small business owners and employees who are willing to take risks and work hard in pursuit of a better life for themselves and their families.”
“During Small Business Week, and throughout the year, we applaud the men and women who own and operate small businesses and spur economic growth,” said Bush. “Through their entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence, they help ensure that America remains a place where dreams are realized.”
ISA supports the designation of Small Business Week and the Administration’s small business agenda, including its efforts to adopt sound economic policies and foster an environment where innovation succeeds. In particular, the Association backs efforts by the White House to provide small business owners with permanent tax relief, access to affordable health insurance through Association Health Plans and Health Savings Accounts, respite from the burden of junk lawsuits, access to new international export markets and relief from high energy costs by decreased reliance on foreign energy sources.
“Not only are signs a vital component to the financial success of a small business,” said ISA President and CEO Lori Anderson, “A significant percentage of sign companies are small businesses, so supporting them and addressing their issues is critical to our every day mission at ISA. We applaud the President’s efforts to acknowledge the important role small businesses play in the U.S. economy and encourage all of our members to participate in Small Business Week activities.”
“This week-long event parallels ISA’s year-round efforts to further the interests of small businesses,” she said. “From providing legal advice and technical assistance to training their workers and keeping them up-to-date on the issues affecting them, ISA is a small business advocate.”
ISA is a 1,900 member organization composed of manufacturers, users, and suppliers of on-premise signs and sign products produced by more than 400,000 employees in all 50 states and 69 foreign countries. ISA exists to support, promote, and improve the $30 billion-a-year sign industry, which sustains the nation’s nearly $3 trillion-a-year retail industry.
