2007 National Convention and Trade Show Outdoor at a Crossroads
Washington, D.C. - The 2007 Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) National Convention and Trade Show is scheduled to take place May 6-8 in San Diego at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel.
“The theme of the convention is ‘Outdoor at a Crossroads,’” stated Nancy Fletcher, president and CEO of OAAA. “A crossroads always gives you options. You can go this way or you can go that way. That’s the metaphor for our industry these days. This year’s meeting is all about big goals and big thinking. We’ll consider alternative futures and how to make them happen especially how to make them happen.”
The Convention is expected to attract almost 1,000 outdoor advertising industry executives, advertisers, agency professionals, and public officials. The opening keynote address will be given by Watts Wacker, a futurist who is known for helping industries envision successful new opportunities. The advertising industry will be well represented with such speakers as Jeff Goodby, co-chairman of Goodby, Silverstein & Partners; Jeffrey Buntin, president and executive creative director of The Buntin Group; and Joe Philport, president and CEO of TAB.
On the afternoon of May 7, attendees will be offered a mix of highly relevant workshops including:
Connecting the Crossroads—Experts discuss how the outdoor business and mobile providers are converging to connect with consumers.
State Regulator’s Roundtable—Representatives from CALTRANS, NAHBA, and MODOT will explain current trends in outdoor regulation.
The People’s Space—Creative professionals form a call-to-action for creating powerful outdoor design.
What Buyers and Sellers Want from Audience Research—Industry leaders explain the advances being made in outdoor audience measurement.
Throughout the convention, a sold-out Trade Show will be available for attendees to walk through. With over 49 exhibitors, the Trade Show showcases the widest variety of outdoor mediums compared to past conventions.
The convention will conclude with the 65th Annual OBIE Awards and Gala Dinner, where Watts Wacker will give the opening address. In addition to the OBIE Awards, which celebrate creative excellence in outdoor advertising, OAAA will be presenting its industry awards.
