SGIA’s New Digital Equipment Evaluations an Industry First - Online resource provides unbiased information for wide-format digital devices

Fairfax, Virginia — SGIA’s all-new Digital Equipment Evaluations will help members make even better decisions when it comes to wide-format equipment purchases.

The online resource, part of the continually expanding SGIA Information Network, offers user-friendly information and data to compare the latest digital output devices.

“This is a groundbreaking service for the specialty imaging community,” said SGIA President/CEO Michael Robertson. “The evaluations offer incredible value by presenting a common set of data points, which allow for clear, accurate comparisons of digital devices across manufacturers.”

The evaluations, available on SGIA.org, Keyword: Evaluations, detail on-site observations SGIA staff conducted on roll-to-roll printers and UV flatbeds from EFI/VUTEk, Océ, and MacDermid ColorSpan Inc. (More digital equipment categories from additional manufacturers are planned going forward)

SGIA staff members determined print resolutions, speeds, dimensions and width and presented the information, along with other pertinent data such as ink costs and maintenance required, in online reports.

“These evaluations provide SGIA members with insight that will help them make the best buying decisions for their specific needs,” Robertson said. Members also can strengthen their digital equipment search with SGIA’s Wide-Format Device List on SGIA.org.

And specialty imagers who want to know how to get the most of their equipment investment can’t miss SGIA’s upcoming Webinar on Managing ROI for Major Equipment Purchases (August 9). Find more information and register at SGIA.org, Keyword: Webinar.
