ISA Seeks Entries For 2008 Sign Design Competition - Revamped Contest Judges Installed Signs, Emphasizes Design Renderings
Alexandria, VA The International Sign Association (ISA) has issued a call for entries for its 2008 Sign Design Competition. Introducing a new format this year, the contest will judge actual sign projects, rather than conceptual designs, as in years past. Winners will be recognized and winning submissions will be displayed at the International Sign Expo 2008, to be held March 26-29, 2008, in Orlando, Fla.
Revamped for 2008, ISA’s renowned contest will take into consideration both conceptual designs and finished products, selecting winners in three categories: commercial/electric, traditional/historic and architectural/sign systems/wayfinding. To be eligible for consideration, signs should have been completed and installed in 2007 and you must be a member of ISA. Entries must be received no later than Monday, January 14, 2008. Four prizes will be awarded as follows:
“Since its inception, ISA’s Sign Design contest has provided an exceptional opportunity to showcase the best of the best in our industry,” said ISA President and CEO Lori Anderson. “This year, though, we wanted to take a fresh approach, to ensure that all winning designs not only look great, but have met the test of customer acceptance.
“We recognized that, while conceptual designs may be highly artistic, some might not be able to be feasible for actual sign projects,” said Anderson. “That realization inspired us to change the contest, to work with finished projects and emphasize the importance of utility in creating an effective, attractive sign.”
