Sustainable boards used for New York perfume exhibit

As the trend towards more sustainable living continues, even companies in the cosmetic industry seem to be developing a greener viewpoint on being beautiful. Living Perfume: The Natural Alchemy of Mandy Aftel is a perfumery dedicated to the sense of smell, aromatics and the art of natural perfume. When the time came to introduce her latest perfume, “Lumière”, Mandy opted for an exhibition that would reflect her ideology and uphold her reputation as a sustainable perfumer.

Xanita’s X-Board was selected to create an arresting visual fest for the launch that was held at the historical Henri Bendel on 5th Avenue, in New York. The concept of the campaign incorporated a uniquely designed exhibit with, most importantly, a green footprint.

Sculptural forms made from silhouetted layers of X-Board created elements of nature- trees, stone formations and a forest path all were part of the fantasy forest. Xanita’s focus is on producing recyclable and repulpable boards, which are made primarily from post-consumer paper waste and sugar cane bagasse. X-Board contains no formaldehyde, toxins or wax. After the event, most of the fixtures remained in their current space, converting into Bendel bookstore fixtures, or were repulped, thereby following the cradle-to-cradle sustainability principle.

This approach to design, including the use VOC-free boards, has caught the eye of sustainability-focussed designers, specifiers and architects commissioned with “greening up” their client’s retail and building environments.
