2010 OBIE Award Winners Announced

Phoenix, AZ ­ TDA claimed one of the oldest and most prestigious prizes in advertising last night when it won the coveted OBIE Best of Show for its FirstBank campaign. The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) announced the winners during a Gala dinner on the last night of the TAB/OAAA Out of Home Media Conference & Marketing Expo.

TDA’s winning campaign featured advertisements for local micro-businesses such as babysitting and dog walking services, which effectively communicated the bank’s dedication to small business owners. The award marks the first time TDA has taken home the OBIE Best of Show.

An additional 21 Gold OBIEs were awarded in individual categories. The quantity of OBIE winners is particularly high this year, a jump the judges credit to an increasing focus on outdoor advertising from top level creative talent. BBDO New York, TBWA\Chait\Day, The Richards Group, and Crispin Porter + Bogusky all won multiple Gold OBIES.

“Outdoor is the purest form of advertising expression,” said Nancy Fletcher, OAAA president and CEO. “The 2010 OBIE Award winners are shining examples of the incredible creativity possible in this medium.”

Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners' ongoing campaign for MINI Cooper won the 2010 OBIE Hall of Fame Award.

“Ever since MINI hit American roads, its outdoor executions have been clever, hip, and fun,” said Stephen Freitas, OAAA chief marketing officer. “Much like the brand it represents, Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners’ campaign is a little different, and that’s what makes it great.”

Twenty-two Silver OBIEs and 15 Finalist certificates were also awarded. The complete list of Gold OBIEs, Silver OBIEs, and Finalists can be found at www.obieawards.org.
