Showtime House Based on “Weeds” TV Show Features Innovative HP Indigo and Designjet Décor Elements

PALO ALTO, Calif. - HP is highlighting the integration of technology and creativity by teaming up with Showtime and top designers from around the country to create custom design elements, invitations and resource guides for the third annual Showtime House. Located in Manhattan’s Cassa Hotel and Residences, the Showtime House includes stunning spaces inspired by seven television shows featured on the Showtime cable network and is open for private events and public tours.

“The combination of top designers’ creativity and HP’s printing innovations opened new opportunities for unique digital printing applications,” said David Murphy, director of marketing, Americas, HP Graphics Solutions Business. ”HP’s digital capabilities inspired the designers to explore new ideas for this year’s Showtime House, with the freedom to produce fun, imaginative décor.”

Designers John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon turned to HP to demonstrate how design and the right technology can be used to create innovative décor for everyday spaces. Wall graphics and custom lamp shades inspired by Showtime’s Weeds were created with the HP Designjet L25500 and LX600 large-format printers with HP Latex Printing Technologies, which are ideal for indoor spaces as they produce odorless(1) prints and contain no hazardous air pollutants.(2)

“HP’s Latex printing solutions allow us to offer the high-quality output our customers demand with the versatility to produce a wide range of applications, from posters and banners to custom lamp shades,” said Rick Olson, president, Olson Visual, which produced the Weeds-inspired lampshades on its HP Scitex LX600 Printer with HP Premium Vivid Color Backlit Film. “The HP Latex printer gives us the flexibility to take on new projects for our customers and helps us differentiate our business so that we remain competitive in the industry.” HP customer Grandville Printing produced high-end invitations and resource guides for the Showtime House on the new HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press. The seven-color press prints up to 120 letter-size, four-color pages per minute, making it an ideal solution to produce the sophisticated, offset-quality materials required for the design showcase.

“This project demanded the offset-quality output that only the HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press could provide,” said Chris Nunez, director of digital printing, Grandville. “Since installing this press in July, we have not only won new business, but have been able to grow current client relationships by offering them an on-demand, high-quality print solution that increases their return on investment while decreasing their warehousing and storage costs.”
