RENOLIT introduces temperature-reducing calendered film for self adhesive applications

The RENOLIT Group, the leading international manufacturer of high-quality plastic films, is introducing its new calendered film for self adhesive applications, which is designed to reduce the soak temperature and increase fuel economy on vehicle wraps. It is the result of years of continuous in-house research and development work aimed at supplying customers in the vinyl industry with top-performing products.

The films with the new technology Solarmour can reduce temperatures on film surfaces by 29 degrees Fahrenheit when compared to the standard formulation. They work by reflecting most of the sun’s energy in the infrared band, and this lowers the temperature on film’s surface. With a lower surface temperature, the films have a longer life span and higher durability.

Solarmour films can be processed in the same manner as conventional films and manufactured in gloss or embossed surfaces.

Opaque polymeric formulations as well as “smoked clear” film are also available. All adhesive systems are compatible with Solarmour films, and these high-performing calendered films work for all thicknesses from 60 ěm (2.4 mil) and above.

“With lower energy consumption and a higher durability, this new technology can help save resources and energy,” said Laura Schied, Marketing Manager at American RENOLIT Corporation in La Porte, Indiana. “It is the next generation of high-performance films for vehicle wraps and opens up numerous opportunities for other applications.” In addition to vehicle wraps, Solarmour films also boast many applications and can be applied to a wide variety of surfaces, including vending machines, utility vehicles, tanks and silos, facades and ships.
