Philips Signage Solutions, Operated by Envision Peripherals Inc. (EPI) Introduces High Security Standard on USB Port Equipped in Digital Signage Displays

Fremont, CA, October 7, 2014 –Philips Signage Solutions, operated by Envision Peripherals Inc. (EPI), today announced a security mechanism on its commercial signage displays with a built-in USB port for content playback. This new feature prevents unauthorized USB devices from being connected to commercial signage displays.

The USB thumb drive is small, convenient, and has become a fashionable accessory. But, this fashion trend threatens the security of devices equipped with a USB port and on a network that can be accessed via that USB port. Most digital signage displays are equipped with a USB port for simple content playback with USB thumb drives usually installed in less guarded public areas.

Philips signage displays now offer a configurable selection for users to disable the USB port function. Users only need to go into screen OSD and make a click on their remote control at Disable USB port selection. In addition, Philips signage displays offer a screw-in USB cover that covers the USB port for people to plug or unplug USB thumb drive to the USB ports.

Sr. Product Marketing Manager of Envision Peripherals Inc., Philips Signage global licensee and North America business operation company, Glen Young said, “With this double protection mechanism, users are worry-free about their signage being attacked or mess-up by anonymous person. Even more important, the network connecting an array of displays is fully secured.”

This security feature is found in all existing Philips Signage displays, 32”, 42” 46”, 55” 20QL series, 32”, 42”, 46”, 55”, 65” 60 EL series, and 42”, 46” 80VL series. Philips Signage keeps focusing on security solutions that make public signage operation run safely and smoothly. Please contact Stephen Shao for more information.
