Fond du Lac, WI - After 30 years as the owner of Flyway Signs in Waupun Wisconsin, Dee Burkhardt is making the transition to a Signarama franchisee in order to grow her business even further.

Already extremely successful, Burkhardt grew her small independent sign business into a 12,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility with a dedicated team of professionals to meet the needs of any type of customer. But Burkhardt, not one to settle for anything but the best decided it was time to join with the United Franchise Group’s Signarama franchise. Signarama is an international branding and marketing company that offers comprehensive signs and graphic services to both consumers and commercial customers. Burkhardt's first Signarama store will be opening on New Year's Day at N5528 Miranda Way in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin 54937. “The biggest concern for most business owners is how to grow their business. On the other hand, a common mistake they make is trying to grow their businesses too fast and they end up biting off more than they can chew”, says Burkhardt.

The best way to avoid this problem is to get some help, whether by merging with another company or joining a powerful franchise system such as Signarama.

Franchising comes with the benefit of the resources of a much larger company, both financially and in terms of marketing power.

“We were ready to take our business to the next level, but we needed some help getting there,” shared Burkhardt. “By converting to a Signarama franchise, we are able to offer our customers the same great service and attract new customers through Signarama's internationally-known brand. Signarama has built a 1,000-store world-wide brand in 25+ years," said Burkhardt.

"As a 30-year-old sign business, making the switch to Signarama made sense for us," said Burkhardt. "Signarama brings global brand recognition and a successful sales model. As a business owner always looking to move forward and take the next step, seeing the software and support that Signarama brings to the table made the move an easy one."

With the Signarama brand to back them up, Burkhardt feels confident in expanding her new business in ways she would never have been able to expand her independent business. "We are looking to add extension offices to the Oshkosh and West Bend markets," said Burkhardt. "We see these communities as great opportunities.” Being able to see the support Signarama offers is great, but there's nothing more convincing than results, and Signarama has the numbers to prove it.

"Signarama has done an amazing job of establishing their brand in both a real world and online marketplace," said Burkhardt. "They have nice collateral and back end support to match the website. In looking at everything as a whole, it is geared towards making the customer experience as quick, friendly, and easy as possible." That was important to Burkhardt in deciding to buy a franchise because it shows Signarama has the same values as Flyway Signs.

When Flyway Signs started, they just did foam letters and hand-painted signs. They have since expanded their services, but Signarma will allow them to expand even further, doing everything from digital signs to banners and vehicles wraps. This will help Burkhardt service customers who are looking to include some of the more modern conveniences in their signage.

"Some of the latest trends we are seeing is the addition of electronic signage," said Burkhardt. "More and more customers are changing the old and outdated changeable copy signs with new electronic message centers. The advantage to the message centers is you can load multiple messages on the sign as well as images. Tell the sign when you want the messages to play and schedule it. No more changing letters in snow or rain." This new technology allows Burkhardt to help her clients reach their own customers. "With the electronic message centers, customers are finding they can reach multiple audiences with multiple messages," said Burkhardt.

Signarama, the world’s largest sign franchise, offers branding and messaging solutions in addition to comprehensive sign and graphic services to consumers and commercial customers – from business signs, vehicle wraps, and digital signs, to advertising and marketing services. Signarama is part of a successful system of business-to-business franchise brands and development services under the United Franchise Group. As part of the $49-billion-plus worldwide sign market, Signarama has been at the forefront of the sign industry for more than two decades. Approaching 900 locations worldwide, the company expects to have more than 1,200 locations worldwide by the end of 2017. For more information visit
